These two poems, one by Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi (Rumi) and the other by an unknown poet are among the ones I am most deeply connected with. Over the past few years, I have been reciting, listening to, reading, and whispering these poems constantly. Whether walking, running, biking, or spending time in nature, from the streets of Cambridge, Boston to everywhere, they have been my constant companions.
What makes these poems so powerful and emotional for me is their contrasting nature. “Rumi” is, of course, widely known for his spiritual and meditative poetry, but this particular poem holds a much deeper meaning for me. Beyond its spirituality, it carries a profound call for kindness, urging people to embrace the beauty of life and the transformative power of compassion.
The other poem, however, is deeply intense filled with raw and overwhelming pain. It expresses suffering in a way that resonates strongly with me, capturing emotions that words often fail to convey.
In the end, I am grateful that these two poems have stayed with me, offering both solace and strength in the critical moments of my life.
